Beauty Tips for Busy Ladies

12 Aug

Hey beauty lovers.

I know I aimed to blog every week but, I have been super busy studying for a resit exam that I have coming up and not to mention my hectic social life of endless 21st birthdays and nights out!.  I also promised to blog about ‘dry brushing’ but I have been so busy to even try it! TOTAL NIGHTMARE!

I am the WORST timekeeper known to man or should I say woman! Seriously, you can ask anyone I know and they will tell you how awful I am! Whether it is waking up for class in the morning or getting ready for work, I am never on time.

So my hectic lifestyle made me think of the perfect thing to blog about…

My Top 5 Quick and Easy Beauty Tips that I use nearly every day.

  1. Quick coverage– Every girl knows that using foundation takes a hell of a long to apply when you using a brush etc! So if you are running late you do not have 15mins to apply foundation correctly! So when I’m in a hurry I take my moisturiser (No7 Essential Moisture) and I add a little bit of my foundation (Estee Lauder, Doublerwear in Soft Tan) and mix it together. I apply it to my face as I would do with a moisturiser! Its gives me good coverage as well as taking care of my dry skin!Total Time – 2mins and gets you out the door faster!

Quick Nails – I love to have my nails painted but I know that a quick 20min file and polish is sometimes the hardest thing to fit into your busy day! I always work a Saturday night and that is always party night!  I normally have about 30mins to get ready after I finish work so normally my nails are probably your my last priority! Then one day I realised I don’t need to do a full polish change and i tried something different!

I take any clear nail polish I can find and put it over my nail polish. It makes your nail polish look fresh like you just did it that day! If you are anything like me your nails are almost as important as the outfit you are wearing! I use Kiko Milano’s top coat polish.

Total time – 5mins including drying time and it makes you feel fabulous

Quick Hair Wash – I have really long hair that gets oily really quickly.  I often find myself washing my hair every day! So in school many years ago my friend Laura introduced me to Batiste Dry Shampoo. This miracle in a bottle takes your greasy hair to clean and pristine in a matter of seconds! Ideal for those mornings you wake up and have no time to wash your hair. It also adds volume! BONUS!

Total time –
2mins plus styling time leaving you feeling fresh and ready to roll

Quick Bronze Over– The world always seems better when you have a bit of a tan! So in the morning when I am up feeling like crap and not to mention running late! I use bronzer!

I go from bronzer to bronzer but my favourite right now is Avon Arabian Glow Bronzing pearls.  I use big powder brush to apply all over my face and my neck.

Total time – 5mins and leaves you feeling like a Bronzed Goddess!

Quick Pleat To Go– My last tip is a hairstyle that use for nights out and for casual events. I pull my fringe out and pleat it to one side and pin it in place.

The good thing about this hairstyle is that it looks more intricate than it should! People always say to me when I have my little pleat in, “Wow you hair must have took you ages to do?” Also for all fans of ‘The Hills’, it is very LC

Here is a picture of me on my Cruise last year wear the pleat for a day of site seeing!

Total time – 5 mins!

So there you have it, my top 5 beauty tips when you are in a hurry! I hope they help you as much as they help me!

Coming soon… A report on dry brushing!!

Nailed It!

Like any girl, I’ve longed to have nice long nails.  But for me the problem is, my nails NEVER grow! I always had to wear falsies or acrylics but they damage nails or fall off so it was a total bust.

My sister took me to the local beauty supply store and showed me the O.P.I aisle. Not only do they have hundreds of beautiful nail polishes but they have a large range on nail treatments.

“Nail Envy” is a treatment used to help make your nails stronger. It’s kind of like a conditioner for your nails. It smoothes ridges and most of all it helps your nails grow. There are a number of different versions of Nail Envy but I used the original.

What you do is take any nail polish off first.  Apply two coats of Nail Envy.  Then any nail polish colour over that if you so wish.  Nail envy does leave a slight pink tinge but I love nail polish so I applied my fav O.P.I colour, Lincoln Park After Dark. You then apply one coat of Nail Envy every 2nd day for 1 week. At the end of that week take all polish off and start again.

I genuinely didn’t believe that this would work and I was shocked by the results.  Within a 2days of using Nail Envy I noticed that my nails were stronger and a little longer. Now for someone like me this was a major achievement.  I wish I had took pictures before and after. Below I have pictures of my nails after almost 2 weeks of using Nail Envy. My nail polish is a little chipped but that is just normal wear and tear.

I have also been using “Avoplex Oil” (another O.P.I nail treatment) in the alternative days that I don’t apply Nail Envy. Avoplex Oil is a treatment for cuticles and the nail itself. It has really helped with all the dry skin I have around my nails.  You can apply that on top of all your dry polish to help nourish your nails.

The RRP for Nail Envy is £14 and £11rrp for Avoplex oil. This does seem pricey and in case you didn’t know there is a recession however, instead of your weekly manicure you could substitute it with some home treatment.  At first I thought the process was a little long winded and that I would forget to apply the coats etc but I actually found it really easy to fit into my hectic schedule.  I use the time to apply the treatments as a little 5mins of “me time” during the day. Whether you are a busy city girl or a student like me, a little R and R during the day is just what the doctor ordered.

From one girl to another, give it a shot! I am sure you will have the same results as I have.
